I wanted to have a blog just to show off my quilts. They are all special to me and hopefully there will be many more to post here.

Four Patch Moda Soiree Jelly Roll Quilt

*Update 3/10/2012:  Still waiting to be quilted.  Have not decided on machine (which I haven't really done before except straight lines on little lap quilts) or by hand. *

My first quilt made from a jelly roll (given to me by my sister for my birthday :) ).  A jelly roll consists of  40 2 1/2"  x 44" strips.  This jelly roll is called Soiree by Lila Tueller made for Moda Fabrics.  Such pretty, bright colors!  I had so much fun working with this fabric!

The top measures 67 x 72 inches.

Not sure how I will quilt it...probably by hand, but I am thinking seriously about dabbling in machine quilting.  Will update when I finish it.

The Jelly Roll

Strips

Strips cut. There are 224 pieced 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" units and 132 2 1/2" squares.

Strip piecing for speed. All of these pieces are joined here. The two piece units are now four patches.

110 four patch blocks

The background and borders. 241 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangles. 8 3 1/2" strips (cut across the width of fabric).

Coming together now. 12 2 1/2" rows.

11 4 1/2" rows

Obviously the borders have been sewn on here. Such a pretty top. First time I have worked with such bright colors! Fun quilt!
